Serving your neighbor

I had just moved to St. George, Utah We were living in a town home while my dad was building our new house. The new house was supposed to be done a month before Christmas so that we could move in and have Christmas in our new home. Things didn't happen exactly the way they were supposed to and our house was finished just a week before Christmas.

Unfortunately, our family already planned to go on a trip the week prior to Christmas, which meant there was no time to move in and have Christmas in the new house. Us kids were devastated. So, we packed up and went on our trip. We had a ball.

We made our journey home, pulled into the driveway of our town home and opened the garage. To our surprise there was a giant sign from wall to wall saying, "SANTA ISN'T COMING HERE, GO HOME!" We were all shocked and my parents were in tears. While we were on our trip, our church family, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had completely moved us into our new home. We quickly drove to our new home. We walked in and it was decked out in all our Christmas dêcor, all the furniture was set up and the pantry was filled with food. The fridge and freezer were filled with home cooked Christmas dinner from our church family.

Our family will never forget the miracle. It is by far the greatest gift I have ever received for Christmas. Knowing that others took the time to serve my family and made sure that we had our Christmas at home has changed the way I view Christmas. I'm now more in tune with serving my neighbor and that is the way Christmas is supposed to be, just like Christ was constantly serving all those around Him. May we all remember the TRUE meaning of Christmas, the birth of our Savior. Merry Christmas!

It is winter
I watch as the small white flakes fall from the sky
They are practically begging me to play
I slowly turn around
Mom is making potato soup and hot chocolate
I run outside hugging the snow into my arms
I make snow angels and snowmen
It is winter
I am having fun
