Cheylynn (Erin)

Age: 12

"My name is Cheylynn, but I like to be called Erin. My favorite cartoon characters are Cheese and Billy and Amanda. I really like music from Japan and Russia and would like to learn to speak Japanese. Some of my favorite things to do are singing, reading, dancing and art. I even write my own songs that I love singing. It is clear that I would like to be a singer someday. My favorite video game is Final Fantasy. I enjoy school and really like reading and science. I would like a family who plays together and who listens when I talk. I would like a nice older sister and other siblings, as well. I would also enjoy living with a family who goes camping and likes to watch WWE wrestling. I would like to have a dad that would do things with me and a mom who will be around when I have children of my own."

Upon meeting Erin, it is apparent that she has talent and knowledge that she would like to impart to the world. Erin is a very articulate 11 year-old who finds pleasure in conversing with persons of all ages. Support people in Erin's life describe her as outgoing and precocious, with a wonderful sense of humor.

Erin is still learning coping skills for dealing with the neglect and abuse in her past. Prospective adoptive parents would need to have a clear understanding of insecure attachment and be prepared to access community support services. Erin would do well with older children who could be positive role models in her life. Having knowledge in the areas of educational supports and being an advocate for children who have challenges with building trust are necessary to assist in Erin's further development as a young adult. Someone who can provide a safe environment and consistent boundaries would be a wonderful match for Erin. The person who provides this young lady with the permanent home she needs will also share in years of joy as Erin achieves her fullest potential.
