Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Jessie

Age: 12

"Hello. I'm Jessie. I'm a little shy at first, but once I get to know you I like to talk and can be a good friend. I love to sing and am really happy I get to be in choir this year. We are practicing for a concert, and I really like the songs we are learning. I love music and listening to the radio. I also love animals, especially cats. I hope I get a family that will let me have a kitten. I like to draw, and mostly draw animals.

I think I'm unique because I'm really good at Math. When I grow up I want to be a teacher and teach Math, and maybe even Science because I like to do science projects. I also like to read, and my favorite books are Harry Potter and the Junie B. Jones books. Next I want to read the Spiderwick Chronicles.

I want to be in a family where I am the middle child. I don't want any older brothers, but maybe a younger brother would be ok. I really want sisters, though. I would love to have a mom and a dad that are nice and who will care for me, love me, and give me lots of hugs. I think a family should have rules like, 'don't take things that don't belong to you,' and 'always tell the truth.'"

Jessie's adoption worker states that Jessie is an adorable girl who craves physical affection and attention. She desperately wants to have parents who love her. She loves younger children and does very well with them. She would do well with either younger or older siblings. She needs to be able to have a healthy childhood and learn to be a child, not the parent. A two-parent family, or single mom will be considered.

The adoption team is also looking for a family that is skilled in setting boundaries, positive redirection, nurturing and encouraging, and who can be advocates for Jessie's academic, social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs. Jessie was born in Saipan and spent the first seven years of her life there. Someone who can celebrate and embrace Jessie's cultural heritage with her would be ideal. Jessie also has a sister and a brother in Idaho who she will need to stay in contact with.

If you think your family can provide the love, nurture, attention, boundaries and affection Jessie needs to thrive, the adoption team would love to hear from you. Your investment in Jessie is likely to be returned beyond measure in many ways; in love, respect, trust, and security. With the right family's care and love, Jessie can blossom into a beautiful, confident, bright young woman.
