David

Age: 6

"I'm David. I like Batman. I can shoot the target with Batman's missiles, but not people. I love to eat hamburgers and brown shakes (chocolate)."

Six year-old David enjoys video games, playing with cars, and playing board games, although learning rules can be a challenge. He is very observant and quick to discover how things work when they are within his range of development (approximately 4 years -old) especially when a patient adult can gently direct and encourage along the way.

David's foster mom describes him as a fun and adorable boy who has come far in the short time she's known him. He is currently responding positively to the structure her family provides. With frequent prompts and encouragement, David is making progress in many areas of his life. His foster family will be a great resource in a smooth transition with known rules and routines.These provide stability and security for David.

David is receiving speech therapy and is putting more and more words together. He has been making improvement with consistent therapy and reinforcement in the home. He is also learning more social skills.

The adoption team is looking for skilled parent(s) who are willing to continue with the resources David is receiving. Knowledge of abuse and neglect, as well as the effects of in-utero exposure to drugs and alcohol, will be important in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for this young boy. It will also help David with continuity to keep in touch with his grandparents, who are very important in his life. David's continued growth and great potential will provide years of enjoyment for a knowledgeable family.
