Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Nyckolas

Age: 13

"My name is Nyckolas, but I like to be called Nycky. I like to play with my Play Station after school. I'm going to play soccer this year too. When I grow up, I want to be a forest ranger--maybe a supervisor and train other workers to prevent fires. I enjoy camping, fishing and being outside.

I want a family that has a mom and a dad that would be on my side all the time. I want a mom that would care for me and do nice things for me. I'd like a dad that would take me places with him. I hope my family will go to a Christian church with me."

Nycky is a quiet child who likes to take his time thinking things over. Described as "a generally happy boy," Nycky does best when he's allowed extra time to process situations. Nycky also sees himself as "friendly and someone who likes to play jokes on people and make them laugh."

While Nycky was used to being the oldest child amongst his siblings, his adoption team feels a family with older children would be a great option for him--as would parents who want to focus on him as the only child. Opportunities in his community to practice the social skills he's learning would also be great.

Nycky needs parent(s) who will respond reasonably when he's frustrated. He would be most successful with parents who tap into community resources, including medication management, psychosocial rehabilitation and counseling. Nycky receives support through an educational program related to behavioral and learning challenges.

A parent who provides strong boundaries and clear rules will reap the benefits of having this young man in their home. Fun family times spent in the great outdoors may even turn into a full-time career for this aspiring forest ranger!
