Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Kathryn

Age: 13

"My name is Kathryn. I love horses and really hope I'll be able to keep riding after I find a home. We have three horses at my foster home. I have a natural seat on a horse. I also enjoy art and am an avid reader. If I'm grounded from tv and games, I usually just bury myself in a book. I like school ok. Reading, art, and choir are my favorite classes at school. But I really don't like keyboarding.

I want a Mom and Dad who will care for me and spend time with me. I look forward to having family nights where we go shopping and watch movies together. It is important that my parents learn to recognize my moods, and when I'm upset, ask me what is wrong. I like that my foster dad will let me do some things, but then I do need him to tell me when it's not right."

Kathryn is a bright, inquisitive young girl who has been described as caring, helpful and loyal. She is very self-aware and well spoken, and she can thank her love of reading for her unusually large vocabulary. She often comes across as much older than she really is. Regarding her love of reading, she once explained that "I entrance myself in reading when real life is too much."

This young girl needs strong parents who can, above all else, provide a structured environment with firm boundaries and expectations. Kathryn herself recognizes that she needs those boundaries to feel safe and secure. She responds well to rules, and though she might complain about them, she will follow them.

Kathryn's adoption team is looking for a two-parent family, or a single mother, in the Treasure Valley or Magic Valley who will help maintain her connection to her birth grandparents. She would do very well in a more rural area, and a family with horses, or access to horses, would be a great bonus for her.

If you think you can provide a safe, structured home for this wonderful girl, you will be rewarded with a loyal, caring daughter who will flourish throughout her teen years. Call the Idaho CareLine today.
