Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Cassandra

Age: 16

"My name is Cassandra. I am 16 and I love school. I like to be alone and have time to myself. I love to travel and hang out with my family. I love to talk and have fun. I like to write in my journal and listen to music. I write my own music and sing it. I am a Christian and follow my religion. I make friends easily. I have a very bubbly and upbeat personality. I am a girly-girl, but when it comes to sports, I will get into it and play my hardest. My favorite sports are volleyball and softball. I like to run. I love to be near water, because it helps to clear my mind. I love to be with people who really care about me and love me for who I am. I am a good kid, and I love to have family time!!"

Cassandra, who likes to be called "Cassey," is a beautiful young woman who needs the strength of parents to guide her through the remainder of her adolescent years. Cassey is a bright young lady and an avid reader. She dreams of becoming a pediatric nurse, and could succeed at this or a similar career if she had someone showing her step-by-step how to reach each of her goals as an independent woman.

Because she enjoys attention, a great parent for Cassey would be someone who rewards healthy and direct approaches that get her the attention she needs in positive ways.

Cassey has a lot of younger brothers and sisters for whom she cares deeply. Although she would be a doting and caring big sister, it is time for her to enjoy being cared for and appreciated in her own right. She would benefit from a family who has a lot of love and is not tentative about setting reasonable rules and consistently reiterating where safe boundaries lie. Ultimately, that will speak volumes to Cassey about your love and your belief that relationships are worth nourishing, even when the road gets rough.

An adoptive family also needs to honor the relationships that Cassey still has with several members of her birth family. These are important ties she wants to maintain and a part of her identity.
