Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Age: 5

"My name is Andrew and I am 5 years old. I like to go outside and play with my foster brother after school. I like to look for invisible squirrels and play upstairs with the waffle blocks making armor. I really like Thomas the Train and I am going to go to school next year. I am ready to go to school.

I like taking pictures and giving my (foster) mom hugs and kisses and saying my night prayers. I would like to be the youngest because I would be good and listen to my mommy and daddy. I want a mom and dad who gives lots of hugs and kisses. When I am a daddy, I would not let my kids play in the mud and water and not let them go out in the street with out their parents.

I would really like to go back to Chuck E. Cheese and give Chuck E. a big hug and a high five and put lots of coins in the game, and I would like to learn to snowboard. I really like Christmas music, like Silver Bells. I also like cheese pizza, chocolate brownies, chocolate chip cookies and I would really like a little puppy dog to call my own."

Andrew is a lively and energetic kiddo. His worker states that he is "funny, insightful, and a joy to be around." Andrew is very bright and is developmentally on track. He flourishes when challenged and directed into appropriate activities. Andrew seems to be developmentally on track and is continuing to learn and grow with the assistance of supportive foster parents.

Andrew is currently attending Head Start and is doing very well in his early schooling. He knows all of his letters and is currently learning how to read. Families with knowledge of the affects of abuse and neglect on children will be needed to provide a safe and understanding home for this young man. Providing a structured routine and assisting him in following the routine will help Andrew be successful in an adoptive home.

The adoption team will be looking for a family who is currently able to adopt Andrew and who will assist Andrew in having contact with his older brother, Brett. The adoption team hopes that the adoptive family will be open to adopting Brett as well, if the possibility arises.

Andrew is available for adoption through the State of Oregon. For contact information, please contact the Idaho CareLine at 1-800-926-2588.
