Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Age: 10

"My name is Mark. After school I really like to do outside activities and would like a family to ride bikes with. I would like to have a dog as a pet, maybe a lab.

I would like a mom who would love and care for me and a dad who is fun and I could have good times with. When I have kids I would like to use time outs and taking away privileges as forms of discipline.

I would really like to learn how to snowboard. I like all subjects in school, but science is my favorite. I like to listen to saxophone and drum music. I really like to eat pizza, hamburgers and french fries. I also really like Top Ramen".

Mark's worker describes him as "a resilient kid who is cool and a real star." Mark is an athletic child who likes basketball, football and other outdoor sports. Allowing Mark time to become comfortable around new people is an important factor in getting to see the inquisitive and observant side to this young man. He also enjoys having fun and laughing and can be quite the comedian. Mark also loves artwork and drawing, something that he finds soothing and enjoyable.

Mark does well with one-on-one attention from adults or in small groups of children. He is working hard on addressing frustration in appropriate ways. Continued therapy and adult assistance will help him reach his goal.

Mark's adoption team will be looking for a parent with some understanding of the issues facing children with abuse and neglect backgrounds. Having knowledge about the issues surrounding anxiety, adjustment, attachment, grief and loss would also be of benefit to Mark's future family.

Mark would benefit from an active family that's filled with opportunities for him to spend his energy in positive ways. He would do well with older siblings or as an only child. Mark will require a parent or parents who honor his relationship with his older sister. If you are a family that can meet Mark's need for quality individual time, you are also likely to find many personal rewards as you come to know this natural charmer.
