Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

David

Age: 16

"My name is David. I have many interests, but my passion is music, especially the guitar. I have an electric guitar with an amp, and my foster dad lets me turn it up when my foster mom is gone. I have moved around a lot, but I like Idaho and have a lot of friends here. Besides the playing the guitar, I also like to ride the skateboard. I can't do tricks or anything, but I like to cruise. When I had the surgery for my clubfoot, I would just sit on my skateboard and cruise around. My foot is better because I have good movement in it now. I might need surgery again in a few years, but for now it's good."

David is a social young man who is described by his worker as a caring boy who has had a lot of loss and upset in his life. David is very musically minded and talented. With just a few lessons and a lot of practice, David has learned to play the guitar well. He has also recently started to play the trumpet and was in the marching band at his previous school. He loves to listen to music, to talk about his favorite bands (Nickelback is on the top of his list), and has aspirations of being a musician.

David's other goals center around finding a permanent family. He has a strong desire to be adopted and welcomed into a family, while maintaining the connections he has with his birth family. His dreams of an ideal family are for a traditional family with a mom and a dad. "I'd be ok with the brother and sister thing, too, because I'm used to that." David hopes for a family who is active, into music and will allow him to take guitar lessons and to play his guitar while cranking up the volume! He would love a family who would take time to do things with him and get to know him. "If I had a dad who asked me if I wanted to go out and do something with him, like skateboarding or something else, that would be so awesome!"

David will need a family who is active, committed, united, loving, and willing to support David in his talents and interests while guiding and encouraging him to make good choices and develop important life skills. A knowledge of autistic spectrum disorders, learning delays, mental health issues, and how to advocate within the school and community for needed services will also be beneficial. The family who commits to David will be rewarded with a sweet, talented, compassionate young man who is eager to please and to fit into a family. He has the ability to give and receive love and is waiting for the right family to make that dream come true.
