Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Tahisha "Trish"

Age: 15

"My name is Tahisha, but you can call me Trish. I would describe myself as sometimes a bit of a tomboy. And I'm usually happy and have a smile on my face. That has helped me survive the difficult times in my life. I'm going to be "sweet sixteen" soon and I can hardly wait! Now I can date and go to dances. My favorite part of my Wednesday's Child day was having my portrait taken and trying on formals. It was one of the best days of my life!

I like cars, especially sports cars. I like playing video games, going for walks, exercising, studying, and spending time with family. Oh, and I love to do nails and shop! My favorite subjects in school are science and math. My grades are best in those subjects, but not so good in others. I want to be a zoologist or a marine biologist someday, so I'm going to have to work on them.

My biggest dream right now is having a family with a mom and dad who are loving and understanding. I could do well with people who are there for me, but who also give me my space to make choices and to mature. I hope they're easy to talk to, fun, outgoing, willing to live in the moment rather than always living in the future. I hope they like going to church and will support me in my religion (LDS). They don't have to go to the same church I do. I'm pretty easy to get along with. I'd like to stay in contact with my brother and sister; also other people who have been important to me like my foster mom, my caseworker and my foster sister. I would love to be the oldest in a family, because I love younger children. I could also be an only child. I don't always get along with kids my age."

Social workers who know Trish say she is one of the most cheerful, positive people they know. They will be looking for a two-parent family with a strong value system that's conveyed in family rules, rewards and boundaries. Trish thrives on that. She also needs flexible, humorous parents to help her make good decisions and celebrate successes.

Trish's placement family may need to accept legal risk until she is legally free for adoption. Trish is looking forward to parents who want to commit for life. She does not mind living in another city or even another state as long as she can stay connected to her network. Younger children in the family would be OK as long as Trish doesn't become the caretaker. She's ready to spread her wings and enjoy her teen years. Her parents should be ready to guide her steps, let her learn from occasional slips and celebrate the marvelous young woman she is becoming!
