Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Hope

Age: 10

"Hello. I'm Hope. There are many things I like to do, and many more things that I want to do but have never been able to try. I like to play outside, and I love to read. I even like to do chores. I love to dress up, and this is something that my sister, Angela, and I really like to do together. I also love to sing and dance. My favorite music is hip-hop and country. I really like Taylor Swift and Hannah Montana.

Something people would say about me is that I'm a good listener. I'm excited to be adopted so I can have a nice family and do all the things I've never been able to try. I hope my family will take me fishing, camping, and let me have a kitten. I would like a family with a mom and dad, and brothers and sisters. I hope I can have an older brother or sister so I can learn good things from them. I would also love to take gymnastics or dance lessons, and go to Disneyland."

Hope is in the 5th grade and enjoys school. Reading is her favorite subject, and Math is her least favorite. She is a sweet young lady who is caught between wanting to be a kid and feeling like she has to be the grown up. She is very parental and protective of her older sister, Angela. They are very bonded, and it will be important for Hope to maintain contact with her. Hopes also needs a family who can teach her how to let go of being the caretaker and enjoy just being a typical ten-year-old girl. Hope also commented that she hopes for a family who, "is nice, fun, and will give me an allowance and lots of hugs."

Hope is a very affectionate, engaging girl. She is generally happy, well mannered, and easy-going, though she does have melt downs that can involve some explosive behaviors. Hope recognizes this challenging behavior and is working on correcting it.

Hope's adoption team is looking for a family with two parents, or a single mother with parenting experience, where Hope can be the youngest child. She would benefit from a family that can advocate for her needs, which will include academic support, counseling services, and lots of patience, structure, time and attention. Families who think that they can meet the needs of this special young girl, and be a permanent and loving resource for her, are encouraged to call.
