Kirstton

Age: 13

"I'm Kirstton. I like to play around after school. I also like to read. When I graduate from high school, I want to go to college.

I wouldn't mind being the oldest in a family, maybe with younger siblings, but having an older brother or sister would be ok, too. The most important traits in a family for me are no violence, trust and loyalty."

Kirstton is described by his caseworker as "a great kid, fun to be around, and someone who likes to joke around and be the clown." As Kirstton has worked hard on being a strong leader, he has volunteered as a mentor after school at the local community center for younger children. He is liked by the children as well as the adults in his life.

Having a family that shares similar interests and likes to have fun is very important to Kirstton. He has earned quite a few badges as he attends scouting with a youth group. Kirstton would like to be adopted by a couple that would support activities such as these that could further expand his social and leadership abilities. He's come a long way as he's learned new coping skills for the challenges life has presented.

Kirstton's adoption team will be looking for parents that will notice his progress and encourage future skill building. They must be able to support counseling work as he copes with the hard places in his past. A couple that understands anger turned inward will be able to reinforce the gains Kirstton has made in expressing feelings of sadness and anger. He's made a lot of progress and has much to be proud of.
