Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Kayla

Age: 11

"Hi, my name is Kayla! I love school. Math and reading are my favorite subjects. I like them all, but science and social studies would probably be my least favorite. A also love to cook! Smoothies are my favorite to make, but I also make omelets and other things. I like making deviled eggs on Thanksgiving and eating the turkey leg.

I like basketball, and I'm taking ice skating lessons right now, which I like. My friend and I like to go skating together. After school, I like to go to my friend's house and play outside.

I would like to be in a family with brothers and sisters, and a mom and a dad. I want a dad who is funny and is around at home a lot. I want a mom who can stay home and have girl's night out with me. I would like a family that likes to go swimming, see movies, go to Roaring Springs, take trips, and do other fun things. I also like to go to church.

I don't want a family with too many pets. But I like bunny rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters. But no cats. The cat will eat the hamster. I'd like a dog, though."

Kayla is a happy, energetic girl who likes to please others. She makes friends easily and likes to spend time with them. Kayla is always willing to share with others. She and her foster mother spent time over Thanksgiving making scarves for her friends.

Kayla does well in school and enjoys reading on her own, often going to the library to pick out books. She will also spend time on her own working with math games on the computer. Always the people-pleaser, Kayla is very helpful around the house and will respond well when asked to do things. She is also willing to cook and run errands with her foster mom.

This sweet girl has experienced a great deal of loss and trauma in her young life. She needs a patient, nurturing environment with a mom and a dad who understand her loss and will be patient as Kayla is not yet ready to address all the loss and trauma. Kayla's family must be willing to learn how to help her sort through those issues as they appear. Parents who are flexible, truly willing to spend quality time with her and nurture her will be essential.

Spending time with Kayla is rewarding. She is quick to smile and has an infectious laugh. As she begins to transition into her teen years, she needs a family that will support and nurture her, helping her deal with her trauma and providing a solid support.

The Adoption Team will be looking for a two-parent family with other children with Kayla being the youngest. If you think you can be this family for Kayla, call the Idaho CareLine today.
