Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater joined the Wednesday's Child network a little more than a year ago to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Kolton

Age: 12

"My name is Kolton. I like to skateboard and bike. I play baseball, and really like football. I also play soccer. I would like to live with a family who is nice and will play with me. I think that it is important to have a family to adopt me because they can help me learn and will take care of me. I'm funny and I like to joke around. I get good grades at school and my favorite subject is math. I would like to either be a police officer or a scientist when I finish school. Police officers help people and scientists can find cures to diseases. Both of these jobs are very important."

The minute you meet this young man it is apparent he is outgoing and enjoys being very active. Although Kolton has had many disappointments in his young life, he shows his resiliency and adaptability by remaining optimistic about finding the right family to love and care for him. If you allow time for him to adjust and attach to your family and to your firm but reasonable boundaries, you can help him make a smooth transition from his current foster home to your family.

If you are an individual or couple that recognizes the importance of established relationships, you could be the one or two-parent family that could make a difference in this boy's life. Kolton thrives on attention but at times has challenges with sharing the spotlight. He would benefit from a family with older siblings who could be great role models for him or from being an only child with great parent-mentors. Your support of frequent forms of contact with his brother, Kallen, as well as with Kolton's current foster family, is another important characteristic he's looking for in a family that's held together with commitment and love.
