Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater recently joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Robert & Elvis

An adoption team is seeking one family to adopt these two handsome brothers. They deserve a skilled single parent or couple with a deep respect for the bond between siblings. Robert and Elvis are fun-loving, active boys who need structure, unshakeable commitment and an understanding of child survivors. This week we will feature Elvis as Robert was featured last week.

Elvis

Age: 7

"My name is Elvis and I would like to be a fireman some day. I would like a family with older sisters and my brother, Robert. I would like nice parents who will take us camping and fishing."

Elvis is an active child with a wonderful imagination. He is interested in art and skateboarding. He also likes to build with blocks and legos. His social worker describes him as a "bit of a ham" and feels that drama classes would be a good outlet for him.

Like most children in the foster care system, Elvis suffered neglect and abuse. He is presently learning to deal with the disappointments of the past as he lives in the present. Elvis and Robert's future adoptive parent (s) will need a clear understanding of insecure attachment and be prepared to access community support services. Elvis would benefit from a parent who can assist with learning new coping skills for life's stresses, especially the ones that trigger traumatic responses from him. A family's knowledge of the effects of abuse and neglect will ensure that individual members are patient as Elvis learns and grows.

If you have effective parenting skills and are ready to share in Robert's continued development, you could be what he dreams of for his brother and himself.
