Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at:

Age: 8

"My name is Spencer. I like camping and bowling. I just played air hockey and really liked it, too. My favorite things to eat are cheeseburgers and pepperoni and cheese pizza. I like the cheese. My favorite color is orange, but I like red, too. I would rather play outside than in my room. Things like riding my scooter. When I grow up, I want to be a policeman."

Spencer is a quiet, shy boy when you first meet him. It may take a while for him to warm up, but when he finally breaks out his smile, it can light up a room. However, he doesn't talk a lot. If you ask him a direct question, he is good about responding, but he certainly won't talk your ear off!

This sweet boy has already suffered several major losses in his young life and is still struggling to cope with them. His parents must have patience and an ability to handle attachment issues. It may take a while for Spencer to form a close bond with adoptive parents, but he'll get there in the right environment.

A two-parent family, where one parent is at home, will be needed for Spencer, and it would be best if there were no younger children in the home. It's not uncommon for Spencer to sit quietly in his room breaking his toys, so he needs parents who can help him overcome this destructive behavior.

As much as anything, Spencer needs parents who will love him unconditionally and commit to him permanently. He hasn't had that in the past, and that has affected him greatly. He is often a sad boy, but in the right environment, with parents who will love and support him, he can blossom and excel. Parents will need to be willing to access community resources, as well, including counseling.

Spencer's caseworker is hoping to keep him local to the Southwest Idaho area, but the right family in a neighboring state could work. If you think you are the right family and can give Spencer the love, commitment, and support he needs, call the Idaho CareLine today.
