Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater recently joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Bradley

Age: 11

"My name is Brad and I'm 11 years old. I like football and lots of activity. I'd like a family who goes to football games, especially BSU games. I would love a family who would play football with me. I really like camping and fishing. I like dogs, but I don't have to have a pet.

I love to be very active, and I'd like to have brothers and sisters to play with me. I would like a mom and a dad who go to church, because it is easy to make friends in church.

I would like a mom and dad with patience. I really need a family who won't get angry and will help me make better decisions. I need a family that will help me deal with my anger and help to calm me down at times. A family with fair rules that help me with a schedule of my day would be great. I'd like my own room with my own alarm clock to help me get going in the morning."

Brad is an intelligent, articulate boy who is searching for a loving family to assist him in maturing into a young man. Smart beyond his years, he realizes there are things he would like to change. He would like a family that is willing to prompt as well as understand when he makes mistakes. His social worker describes him as "a boy who has a good heart, great mind, and quick wit."

With continued psychological supports, such as medication management and psychosocial rehabilitation, he will continue to progress at home and at school. His parent(s) must also support Brad's self-management goals by providing vigilant supervision, strengthening his ability to focus, and redirecting behavior when he becomes frustrated. This likeable young man is finding great pride as adults notice how and when he uses self-calming behaviors in daily situations.

Brad would do well with older siblings as mentors or as an only child within a family that uses example, humor, structure and fair consequences to reinforce family rules. If you have lots of patience, empathy and creativity in parenting, Brad is an amazing child who would benefit from your above-average skills.

Bradley is available for adoption through the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. To find out more about adoption, call the Idaho CareLine at 1-800-926-2588 or within Idaho at 2-1-1. You may be asked to provide this reference number: 30223.
