Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Jordan

Ages: 11

"I'm Jordan. I would like families to know I like chess and playing video games. I hope my family will let me play Halo, 'cause I'm really good at it. I like Hip Hop music, eating chicken nuggets at MacDonald's and finding garter snakes--stuff like that."

When you first meet Jordan, you may notice how guarded he can be. He's really trying to figure out whether he should invest his time in getting to know someone who might reject him. Getting to know his tender, humorous side is like finding a box of treasure.

Although he is wary about adoption and whether it will disappoint him or be the answer to his dreams, he wants to believe he has a permanent place in someone's heart. Maybe that's why he finds worlds of comfort interacting with warm and cold-blooded animals. He has an instant affinity with dogs, cats and even snakes!

Jordan is the oldest of two children. His younger brother lives in foster care in another home. He worries about his brother's safety and wishes they could visit. Having an ally in maintaining family connections would go far towards Jordan knowing his adoptive family is keyed into his emotional needs. This communication connection could include his younger brother, an aunt and a grandmother in Oregon.

Academically, Jordan does best working in small group settings. He is currently on an Individual Educational Plan with a built-in incentive program to help him stay on task, earning him rewards when he reaches his goals.

Jordan functions well with structured physical activities built into his day. In the past this has included day camp, overnight camping, swimming lessons and soccer. When he isn't playing his favorite video games at the end of a busy day, Jordan also likes quiet time to play computer games, draw pictures or play chess.
