Lucy

Ages: 16

"My name is Lucinda, but my friends call me Lucy or "Lucy Loo." I like to be active, play sports and hang out with my friends. I love to laugh, so humor will be important in my family. I like watching a movie once in a while, but I'm not a couch potato. That would be so boring! I'd love to live in a home that has animals. I have a gerbil named Midnight who insists on living with us.

I look forward to having patient parents. I'd like a mom that's loving and caring, but doesn't expect me to hang out at spas, or do lots of shopping with her. That's just not me.

I'd like a dad that plays games with me. It doesn't matter if they have other kids in the family, but they must understand that all kids are different and not compare me to other kids. I'm unique.

Please trust me to dress the way I want. I get along with people who show respect for each other and focus on more important things than clothing.

I also need parents who aren't intimidated by my love for my birth mother. I'm able to have continued contact with her. I need that and so does she. She lives in West Idaho. My adoptive family should be okay with inviting her to important events in my life, without feeling that threatens their relationship with me.

I like school and I'm getting good grades. Science and Choir are my favorite subjects. Reading and Language are my least favorite. I pretty much have my plans set after high school. I want to be a Marine. I'll enter academy and train towards a career as an aerospace engineer.

I love snowboarding. I can't wait to use my Bogus Basin ski pass and drop-in lessons. I would also like to try skydiving someday."

Lucy's vitality tends to uplift most of the people she meets. Although she loves energy drinks, she definitely has some natural reserves of her own! Her enjoyment of the simple things in life are something she could share with the right kind of family. When she describes herself as active and not into super feminine things you can believe her! She is an easygoing tomboy.

Lucy does need parents who can assist her in coping with feelings related to separation. Her adoptive family will come to appreciate her resilient nature as they give her an occasional lift when she's feeling down. Lucy responds well to disciplinary techniques that embrace good choices rather than coercing. Recognize her strengths--which are many--and you will watch her grow into her natural leadership abilities. Lucy intends to live life to its fullest and her family could share that adventure with her!
