We have some of the answer! Join us for Week 67 of Orofino History Trivia, a special feature to celebrate the history and heritage of Clearwater Country. We are starting with a photo this week. Do you know the location, year it was taken and names of the people in the photo? Each day we will have another clue to help you figure out the answer. Monday: Tuesday: Grangemont Wednesday: Fred Kelley of Buckley, WA submitted the following: "Would guess that Alph Johnson's three sons are in the pic: Ron, back row left; Dick, back row right; Phil, front row second from the left. Looks like Donna Adams (wed Tom Dickson) is on Phil's right, and her bro Jim at front row right end. Would guesstimate the photo is circa '42 or '43, which was take in front of the Piper School, located maybe 2 miles above the Weseman Cemetery on the Grangemont Road." He is correct about all the names and the location. The photo was taken in 1944. Do you know the names of the six children that Fred does not have? That would make the names go from left: back, Ronald Johnston, ____________, ____________, ___________, Richard Johnston; front, Donna Adams, Philip Johnston, ____________, ____________, ___________, Jim Adams. Here a few clues about the children that have not been named. The clues are in red in the space where the child is standing. That would make the names go from left: back, Ronald Johnston, (She worked at Snyders Clothing Store), (Her sister was the teacher), (Her brother, Frank is on the front row) , Richard Johnston; front, Donna Adams, Philip Johnston, (This boy's brother is two people to the right) , (He was a machinist for Alph Johnson Lumber Company and Potlatch), (This boy's brother is two people to the left. Their family lived near Piper School) , Jim Adams.
Monday: The additional clues did not seem to spark any more names, so here are the names for all the children in the photo. They are from left: back, Ronald Johnston, Carol Wolverton, Edith Neiman, Mildred Adams, Richard Johnston; front, Donna Adams, Philip Johnston, Raymond Glasson, Frank Adams, Willie Glasson, Jim Adams. The back of the photo says it was taken in the spring of 1944. (Photo courtesy of Phil and Glenna Johnston)
