Saturday: Worked to construct the Jones Building on Johnson Ave. in Orofino. Daniel Boone Tyra was born in Powell County, KY on Jan. 19, 1876 and married Ollie Merffert on Nov. 30, 1902. They came to Orofino from Wisconsin in 1909. He was employed for a time as lumber worker before going into the construction and contracting business. He was particularly know for his concrete work and was involved in construction of the Jones Building in the 200 block of Johnson Ave. in Orofino. Tyra lived in Orofino for 44 years before his death at the Orofino hospital in January 1954. He and his wife had celebrated their golden anniversary the year before he passed away.
