Wednesday: Orofino Creek hydro project

Thursday: Politics

Friday: Retired in Orofino

Saturday: Was a nurse

Helen Hight was the first and only woman mayor of Orofino. Before moving with her husband to retire, Helen had been a nurse.

Harriet Reece was reporting on the city at the time and she shared this after she made the correct guess: "Helen was a leader who could draw people to her--people who were dissatisfied with the status quo. She presided over the city during a time of turmoil. During this time the Canada Hill project was completed. Helen was intelligent and a good public speaker. Helen became ill at the end of her term and spent her last days at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, John and Robin, in Lewiston. Robin is a nurse practitioner. Her daughter, Margaret, had a stained glass shop in Orofino and was talented at making stained glass. Margaret married Bruce Yenni, and they were later divorced. Margaret is now a long haul truck driver."
