Potlatch's Jaype Mill was built in 1964 along State Highway 11 out of Pierce. For a short time it was a stud mill. Then for several years, 1972-1988, they manufactured cedar products. It became a plywood mill in the late 1980s and produced about 8 million board feet per year. At its closure in 2000, about 325 people were employed at the mill. The log yard stayed open for a time after the mill closure.

Watch for more from those who worked at the mill.
