Monday: Ham radio operator

Chuck Johnson remembers Earl Scarlett having a shop behind Western Auto in the late 1940s and early 1950s where he repaired everything from radios to bicycles. Chuck was in his teens at the time.

"I was interested in electronics and used to visit him and his wife and daughter in there home in Riverside. He was a ham radio operator and I used to talk to his fellow hams on the radios he had built," Chuck said. Scarlett's call sign was W7RFM.
