Coroner releases name of man who died in Weippe officer involved shooting Clearwater County Coroner Dennis Fuller Monday released the name of the man who died in an officer involved shooting Friday evening in Weippe. Nicholas Henry Holley, 34, died in the shooting incident, according to Fuller. Time of death is listed as 8:50 p.m. Friday. Lewiston Police Department is conducting an independent investigation into the officer involved shooting. Clearwater County Sheriff's Office deputies were serving an arrest warrant and a search warrant at a residence near Weippe when the male suspect barricaded himself inside with an adult female. CCSO requested assistance from the Idaho State Police SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team. Negotiators attempted for several hours to resolve the situation peacefully. During the incident, the suspect fired multiple times at ISP personnel. Officers returned fire, and the suspect was struck. Medical aid was provided immediately, but the suspect later died. One ISP SWAT member was struck in the helmet by a grazing round but was not injured. The adult female inside the residence sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for evaluation. As part of the District 2 Critical Incident Task Force, the Lewiston Police Department is leading the independent investigation. Findings will be forwarded to the local prosecutor for review.
