National Weather Service issues Winter Weather Advisory for upper elevation

National Weather Service-Missoula has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Northern and Southern Clearwater Mountains through Monday morning.

Snow is forecast. There is a likelihood of developing or ongoing moderate winter weather impacts. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches Headquarters to Weippe, 2 to 6 inches US-12 east of Lowell to Powell, 4 to 12 inches in the mountainous areas including Dixie and Red River.

For moderate winter weather impacts, expect disruptions to normal activities. Use extra caution while driving. The Monday morning commute could be affected, especially over higher passes. Watch out for black ice during the night. Take it slow, especially around curves.

Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 40. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
