Orofino man dies following single-vehicle crash on US 12

Idaho State Police is investigating a fatal crash which occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 09:39 a.m. on US Highway 12 at milepost 39 west of Orofino.

A 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was traveling westbound on US12 near milepost 39 when it drifted across the eastbound lane of travel and drove into a ditch, resulting in a rollover crash. The vehicle was occupied by a 67-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman, both from Orofino. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The occupants sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. The male occupant was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Clearwater County Coroner Dennis Fuller identified the deceased as Stephen Jeffrey Bourn.

The highway was partially blocked for approximately 30 minutes while first responders investigated the scene. Next of kin has been notified, ISP said.

The Clearwater County Sheriff's Office, Clearwater County Ambulance Service, and Idaho Transportation Department assisted with the incident. This crash remains under investigation, according to ISP.
