Old Ahsahka Fire burning northwest of Orofino

The Old Ahsahka fire was reported shortly after 3 p.m. this afternoon about 4 ½ miles northwest of Orofino off Old Ahsahka Grade.

Initial fire size was reported at 40 acres. Numerous fire engines, heavy equipment, hand crews, and firefighting aircraft were dispatched to suppress the fire. The fire is burning in grass and timber.

Structures are threatened. Any evacuations, if needed, will be issued by the Clearwater County Sherriff's office. The fire is currently 0% contained. The cause is under investigation.
