COVID-19 cases continue to add up in Clearwater County

COVID-19 cases continue to add up in Clearwater County, though which variant still remains to be seen since the statistics on variants on the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare website are still behind with the overwhelming numbers of new cases around the state in the last few weeks.

Since COVID case numbers went into the double digits Jan. 5, There have been 269 cases recorded in the county. They particularly took a jump Jan. 18 following the Martin Luther King Day three-day weekend. There are no statistics reported on weekends. Here are the numbers by date:

  • Jan. 6: 11
  • Jan. 7: 9
  • Jan. 10: 14
  • Jan. 11: 9
  • Jan. 12: 19
  • Jan. 13: 14
  • Jan. 14: 18
  • 3-day weekend
  • Jan. 18: 40
  • Jan. 19: 31
  • Jan. 20: 27
  • Jan. 21: 23
  • Jan. 24: 24
  • Jan. 25: 30

Of those 269 cases, 144 are female and 125 male. Open cases are recorded as 267, recovered 1 and deaths 1.

Here the statistics by age group from Jan. 5-25:

  • 1-4: 1
  • 5-12: 9
  • 13-17: 10
  • 18-29: 38
  • 30s: 47
  • 40s: 42
  • 50s: 36
  • 60s: 47
  • 70s: 25
  • 80s: 9
  • 90s: 5

In Public Health-Idaho North Central District (District 2) there have been 2,979 cases in the same period with 1,617 female and 1,360 male. Of those 2,974 are open, 3 recovered and 2 deaths.

Looking at cases by county, besides Clearwater which we have already discussed are: Lewis had 125, Idaho 272, Latah 965 and Nez Perce 1,344.
