Orofino Elementary School closure due too increasing COVID-19 cases extended
Orofino Elementary School Principal Denise Pomponio issued the following letter concerning the extended closure of the school due to increasing COVID-19 cases:
Dear OES Families,
After further investigating the extent of illness and exposure to confirmed positive Covid-19 cases at school, it has been determined that OES will remain temporarily closed next week, Monday 9/13-Thursday, 9/16 in order to allow 12 full days to effectively push the reset button on further infections and associated quarantines. We will ensure the building is disinfected and ready for school to resume on Monday, Sept. 20.
There will be no virtual learning for any classes during this short closure. Due to the fact that our students are just beginning to learn how to log on to their Chromebooks and independently navigate the digital tools required for virtual learning, it would not be effective to expect families to ensure that online learning takes place for a short closure. However, teachers have prepared materials for independent engagement to keep students in active learning mode for the next week and provide a review of concepts. You may pick up these packets for your child at the OES office Thursday, 9/9 between 8am-6pm. If your child is on an Individualized Education Plan, please reach out to the case manager by phone or email to discuss options for obtaining individualized work. Your school will be staffed next week during the closure. If you have any questions, please call or reach out to your child's teacher via email.
If your child develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19:
NO SCHOOL 9/9/21, 9/13/21-9/16/21
If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher or call the office (208-476-4212).
