Pilot killed in crash at Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport

LEWISTON -Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport had a small aircraft crash at approximately 12 p.m. Saturday killing the pilot, according the Airport Director Mike Isaacs.

Pilot Dale Snodgrass was alone in a SIAI-MARCHETTI single- engine aircraft that crashed during takeoff. The aircraft landed mid-field and caused a small fire. Lewiston Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire and Lewiston Police Department and Nez Perce County Sheriff's Department secured the accident site, Isaacs said.

FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) are investigating. The airport remains open, Isaacs said.
