Clearwater County has two additional COVID-19 deaths

Clearwater County had two additional deaths last week, one a man in his 80 and the other a woman in her 60s, both had been positive in December, according to information on the Public Health-Idaho North Central District website.

Clearwater County now has a total 903 cases, with a total 10 deaths. In the last month, there have been 167 cases, 79 of those in the last week. The cases are in all the age ranges up through 100s. The deaths have all been in people in their 60s through their 90s.

Numbers of cases in long-term care facilities staff and residents has remained the same since last week, but there was one additional death from Clearwater Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia, according to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare website.

A large part of the cases in Clearwater County during the last week are from Idaho Correctional Institution-Orofino. Warden Terema Carlin said they did another round of mass testing Jan. 12 and got the results Thursday and Friday of last week. They had 73 offenders test positive and 1 staff member. As of Sunday, they had 75 offenders quarantined and 1 staff member.
