Orofino VFW joining in 'Taps Across America' Monday at 3 p.m.

Orofino's Harold Kinne Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3296 is joining the 'Taps Across America' Monday at 3 p.m. at the Post Home, 330 Michigan Ave.

They sent out this information Sunday:

Memorial Day celebrations across the U.S. will look a bit different this year, with most picnics, parades, and services cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. That's why CBS News "On the Road" correspondent Steve Hartman is teaming up with retired Air Force bugler Jari Villanueva to keep the spirit of the holiday alive.

Hartman and Villanueva are asking veterans, musicians, teachers, and students of all abilities and ages to sound Taps on their front lawns, porches, sidewalks and driveways at 3 p.m. local time this Monday, May 25, to honor the thousands of Americans who have given their lives so we are able to live in a free country.

That being said Harold Kinne VFW Post #3296 is putting out the call for anyone who wishes to observe the Socially Distant quidelines in being six feet apart (face masks are more than acceptable, if you wish) to join us in front of the Post home at 3 p.m. Monday, Memorial Day, for the playing of TAPS. We will meet at the Post between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m. to get set-up.
