Orofino Senior Mealsite to be closed, meals will be delivered to seniors

Orofino's Senior Mealsite found out Tuesday that they will be closed for an undefined amount of time due to concerns about Coronavirus transmission, according to Deryl Ketchum, president of Clearwater County Senior Citizens, Inc.

The Orofino Senior Mealsite was encouraged to continue providing hot and frozen meals to the seniors currently receiving them.

Ketchum said he called Coast Transportation in Colfax and asked if they could use the bus to deliver hot meals to the Congregate Seniors that regularly attend on Tuesdays and Fridays. Coast gave him a resounding 'Yes'!

They are going to start delivering meals to his regular riders and any other senior along his route on Friday. In addition to delivering meals, he will take those seniors in need of transportation, (ie. grocery store, pharmacies, banks) and any other local destination as required. He is asking that anyone refrain from using the bus if they are symptomatic of any illness or cold.

They will have regular and additional drivers delivering meals to clients as usual.

Contact the mealsite for further information: 208-476-4238.
