Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests asking visitors to 'Leave No Trace'

Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests are asking visitors to 'Leave No Trace Behind' when visiting public lands.

This is more important than ever since many public lands across the country have reduced or postponed any garbage services out of an abundance of caution for the staff that clean and maintain these sites. For this reason, it is important that when visitors Pack It In, Pack It Out, All the way out - that means taking garbage back home, or to a facility that you know will be serviced regularly.

Most sites on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests do not offer garbage services even under normal circumstances, so it is always a good idea to plan to Pack It In, Pack It Out. Leaving garbage at a campsite or recreation area not only detracts from the enjoyment of the area, but can also attract wildlife, which is bad for the animals and the people. Visit www.lnt.org for information on how to Leave No Trace.

Remember, all developed campgrounds and certain other recreation sites on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests have been closed indefinitely for the health and safety of visitors and staff. A full list of restricted areas is available online at https://bit.ly/NPC-Closures . Visit www.fs.usda.gov/main/nezperceclearwater for updates to services and closures on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests.
