Virus impacting residents, staff at local retirement, long term care centers

COVID-19 may have been slow to come to Clearwater County, but it now seems to be impacting people all over, including in retirement and long-term care facilities such as Brookside Landing and Clearwater Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia.

According statistics on the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare website which reports numbers for long term care facilities combining residents and staff, Clearwater Health and Rehab had had 11 cases by Dec. 4 and 25 by Friday, Dec. 11, but no deaths. Brookside Landing had 4 cases by Dec. 4 and 7 by Dec. 11, with one death. This type of figures is only reported weekly.

Both facilities were contacted, Brookside Landing said no comment and Clearwater Health and Rehab did not respond to either phone calls or email queries to the administrator concerning the situation at their facilities or the mearsures they are taking.
