OFD responds to motorhome fire threatening residence

Orofino Fire Department responded to a motorhome fire at 1240 Michigan Ave. just minutes before midnight Thursday.

The motorhome was fully involved when first responders arrived, but firefighters were able to knock down the flames so they did not breach to the inside of the home owned by Joseph Senior. It did scorch the outside of the home, according to OFD Chief Jonathan Hoyt.

The person staying in the motorhome suffered minor burns and was transported to Clearwater Valley Hospital by Clearwater County Ambulance Service. A woman helping to get people out was bitten by a dog, but did not go to the hospital, Hoyt said.

He said it was a good way to start 2021 being able to knock down the flames before they seriously damaged the house.

Sunnyside Rural Fire District was called in on mutual aid, but was released to return to their area when OFD was able to knock down the flames. Orofino Police and Clearwater County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
