6.5 earthquake shakes Idaho and neighboring states USGS is reporting a magnitude 6.5 earthquake just before 5 p.m. Tuesday with an epicenter about 45 miles west of Challis in south central Idaho. The earthquake was recorded at 10 kilometers or about 6.2 miles deep. There have also been lesser magnitude earthquakes east south east of Cascade, 4.6 and 3.6. People around Idaho, Montana and Washington felt the shaking. There have not been any reports of serious damage or injuries at this point. |
