Doris Joanne Shriver Hutchinson was born July 21, 1935 in Orofino to Stan and Alice Shriver.

She inherited her talent and love for music from father. She began playing the piano at an early age and was playing at the Methodist Church at age 10. Through the years, she accompanied the high school choir and many soloists. She also played at music festivals, Orofino Community Choir and numerous city events and festivities.

Joanne and John Hutchinson were married in 1951 and raised three daughters, Shelley, Sandy and Susan.

She told her family she had the 'best job in town' as secretary at Orofino High School for 30 years. Joanne touched the lives of many students over several generations. She had a great sense of school spirit and community pride.

In her later years, she enjoyed traveling and visiting her children and grandchildren in the US and Europe. She also took several cruises with friends.

A 2005 feature about her life in the Clearwater Tribune reads in part, In a world where there is increasingly less and less we can count on, the beautiful music of Joanne Hutchinson, like the Clearwater River, remains a constant and lasting part of our lives."

Joanne passed away March 30, 2017 at Clearwater Valley Hospital surrounded by her daughters.
