Her father was an osteopath. After she graduated from high school in Great Falls, she earned a degree from DePaul University in Indiana. Then she went to Katharine Gibbs School in New York to become an executive secretary. She was able to type 92 words per minute and landed a job at John Hopkins Fipps Clinic where she met her husband to be, Myrick Pullen. The couple was married June 7, 1942. The oldest of their six children was born Sept. 7, 1943. After World War II, the family moved to Salt Lake City, UT. The family came to Orofino in 1956 where Myrick worked with the patients at State Hospital North. Besides raising their six children, Julia as involved in PTA, American Association of University Women and Mental Health Association of Idaho, among other organizations. They moved to Boise, Idaho Falls and then Yankton, SD for a few years each with Myrick's jobs. The returned to Orofino in 1988 when he retired. She was one of the first women to join the Orofino Kiwanis Club. Her favorite color was blue and her hobbies included: cooking, reading and being involved in the community.
