Friday: Lewis and Clark tried to catch the fish, but with little success. Saturday: There was not much gold found. Friday: Lochsa/Powell Ranger District Saturday: About 50 miles slightly southeast of Orofino Eldorado Creek was called Fish Creek by Lewis and Clark who saw large fish in it, but had little success catching them. Miners named it, but it produced little gold compared to the great riches the name usually describes, according Ralph Space's book, The Clearwater Story: History of the Clearwater National Forest.
