Crater Meadows is at elevation 5960 feet on the Clearwater National Forest is a SNOTEL site (#425). The area is about six miles from the Weitas Guard Station off Forest Service Road 555. It can be reached by hiking or ATV. The meadows are in a basin formed by glacial action. Many people with little or no training in geology assumed that the glacial cirques were craters caused by volcanic action.
