Riverside Lanes was built in 1956 by Tommy Robison from Nezperce. He sold it to Frenny Frensdorf, who sold it to Bert McGinnis and then Bob Happ bought it. In 1986, Robert and Gayle Lashly purchased the business. They ran it together until she passed away. Besides Robert, the business now involves their children, grandchildren great grandchildren.
The business has always been called Riverside Lanes, except a couple of years along the way it was called Clearwater Bowl, then back to the original name. It was one of the first bowling alleys in the area to have automatic pin setters.
There were two previous bowling alleys in Orofino. Those had pins set up manually by people. Robert said one was where the China Palace is on Johnson Ave. and one was where Valley Motor Parts is on A St. and College.
