Two Grangeville women injured in US 12 two-vehicle crash at Canoe Camp

Two Grangeville women were injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 12 at Canoe Camp Historical Park Wednesday just after noon, according to Clearwater County Chief Deputy Rick Miller.

Deputies responded to a report of a rollover crash in front of Canoe Camp Historical Park west of Orofino. Upon arrival, it was determined that the crash actually involved two vehicles, Miller said.

This car went airborne before it rolled and landed on its top in front of Canoe Camp Historical Park Wednesday about noon.

Stephen Spencer, 69, Weippe and his passenger Connie Spencer, 64, Weippe were in a 2008 GMC pickup. He turned west onto US 12 from 139th St. and then immediately turned right into Canoe Camp. The pickup then struck a westbound 2009 Nissan Versa causing the Nissan to spin around, strike the curb backwards, go airborne and roll onto its top, according to Miller.

The driver of the Nissan was Linda Badertscher, 69, Grangeville and her passenger was Beverly Hahn, 58, Grangeville. Both Badertscher and Hahn were transported to Clearwater Valley Hospital by the Clearwater County Ambulance Service with unknown injuries. All subjects involved were wearing seat belts. Assisting on scene was the Orofino Fire Department Rescue Unit. Miller concluded.

The front passenger side of this GMC Sierra shows damage where it hit a Nissan Versa Wednesday on US Highway 12 in front of Canoe Camp Historical Park.
