Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.icwrtc.org/wednesdays-child-1.

Michael

Age: 16

"I like football, Lacrosse, basketball, wrestling and being with my friends. I'm good at Math and Art at school. I like to draw. I have two brothers and two sisters. I enjoy spending time with them when I see them, like playing football, video games and card games. We enjoy being together most of the time, but we also get in each other's space."

Michael has three younger siblings who live in Southeastern Idaho and an older sister who lives in Southwestern Idaho. Michael prides himself on being an older brother and has a close relationship with them - he is committed to regular, almost daily contact with his siblings. These relationships are extremely important to him and the permanency team involved in Michael's case would like to find a family that can preserve this close sibling bond. There are extended family members that Michael loves as well - aunts, uncles, grandparents - and contact with his extended family will also need to be supported.

The permanency team is looking for experienced parents who are well prepared in the area of childhood trauma and healing, who also have a strong support system. Michael has grandparents in Southwest Idaho who love him and want to be a part of this support network. Michael thrives on attention and would do well with a positive male role model as well as with the commitment a stable couple can bring. This couple should be secure in their partnership, as well as individually strong and capable, able to collaborate and support each other on challenging days. The ideal family would also cheer on Michael at sporting events, support his sporting commitments, and engage in fun outdoor activities. They would also need to be strong advocates for Michael's needs - educationally and within the community.

Michael is a very active teen who loves sports and outdoor activities and who responds well to structure and a calm, supportive environment. If you have a great sense of humor, an ability to start each day fresh, and talents for building self-confidence through work and play, you may have what it takes to parent this young man.
