Ray Norton is the winner! The Logger Statue at Proud Heritage Plaza is the answer for Week 496 of Orofino History Trivia a special feature to celebrate the history and heritage of Clearwater Country. Join in the discovery! Monday: Local artist Tuesday: Made in stages Local sculptor John Gilliam designed the bronze Logger Statue for Proud Heritage Plaza. It was sculpted in clay and then transported in pieces to Joseph, OR where a mold was made and the bronze poured. Around the base are plaques purchased by some of the contributors as well as some that were placed as memorials. The plaza was constructed to honor the area's logging history. Plans and fund raising for the eight-foot tall sculpture began in 1993. Sponsored by:
