Memories of a Christmas Angel's visit

Remembering the first year the Christmas Angel that gave us a visit, I wasn't sure if this was a dream or reality. Through all my years in retail, nothing like this had every happened.

This person came up to me and quietly said they would like to pay on a layaway. I got in the computer and asked for the name I was looking for. This person said a layaway a layaway with items for children. I said okay and started looking for layaways that might be what this person was looking for. When I found one, I told them the balance and they said they would pay that one off and asked if I could find another one. So, I continued finding layaways for this person to pay off, until they said that will be good for now. I just had a hard time believing this was happening, so I asked this person the reason behind doing this. The reply was to the effect that they didn't want to see any child doing without at Christmas time.

Wonderful, wonderful thought.

When I would call the customers and tell them the Christmas Angel paid off the layaways, every one of them was surprised and very thankful. Some of them I could tell they were tearing up with joy and I just had to tear up with joy on the other side of the phone.

Since that time, there have been a few more Christmas Angels coming into the store paying off layaways for Christmas time. Believe it or not, some of them even came in July, Christmas in July.
