Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Cadyn & Jacob

Ages: 4-6

These two cute brothers are a bundle of joy and energy. Tightly bonded, Cadyn and Jacob play well together and, like brothers, know how to annoy each other. But spend some time around them and you're sure to leave with a smile.

"Hi, my name is Cadyn. I like to play Jurassic World with my friends in first grade. I'm the T-Rex. I also like playing with my remote control car. It's black and the wheels light up. I like macaroni & cheese and corn dogs."

Cadyn is a very outgoing, likable boy who loves riding his bike and being outside. His smile can melt just about anyone's heart. Cadyn craves one-on-one attention-a parent who not only provides protection, but also responds positively when he calls "watch me"!

"My name is Jacob. I like to play dinosaurs at home. I play with my brother. I like hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken nuggets, and macaroni & cheese. I also like cowboys."

Jacob is a very active little boy. He likes playing outside, tether ball, jumping on the trampoline, and pretty much anything that helps him burn his seemingly limitless supply of energy. Jacob likes to show you the tricks he can do on his scooter.

Cadyn and Jacob are yearning to form an attachment with someone who will stay in their lives no matter what; someone who's able to give them a lot of time. Ideally, they need a full-time parent who doesn't need to place them in different caregiving situations (such as daycare). A parent with trauma-based skills will understand that the children need time to be able to form a secure attachment.

Both Cadyn and Jacob occasionally express their anxiety with clingy or impulsive behaviors. They're gradually building coping skills and have made great progress over the past year. A parent or parents who are devoted, energetic and available could tap into their love of fun. Cadyn and Jacob love to run and play! If you can provide opportunities for sports and supervised outdoor play, you may have what it takes to keep up with them!

Cadyn just started first grade, and Jacob is in pre-school. They're doing well and enjoy interacting with their peers and teachers. Having a parent who is an educational ally would make all the difference in their educational and social development.

These two brothers have contact with their maternal grandmother. She could be an excellent support to the family that adopts Cadyn and Jacob. Her inclusion as an extended family member will go a long way towards building their trust and identity within your family. It's also important that your entire family has the capacity to build security and confidence within a transracial home.
