Oryon & Clio

Oryon and Clio are a wonderful sibling pair hoping to find a family of their own. They have a lot to give back to a family willing to commit to them.

Smart, inquisitive and determined are traits that best describe Oryon. Oryon is creative and imaginative; he enjoys activities involving building and constructing objects. He loves building things out of wood with tools and would love to build a fort or tree house someday. Oryon also is a good reader, reads daily and likes reading a book imagining the places he would like to visit and things he would like to do. He is an avid swimmer and shows skill when handling a basketball. Oryon enjoys riding horses. He also plays the trombone at his school.

Oryon will need the guidance and structure that will promote his independence while encouraging him to make good decisions. He thrives in situations that are predictable; he responds to challenges that are age appropriate; and appreciates being acknowledged for his achievements.

Clio is an endearing little girl wanting to please everyone around her. She is funny, with an unforgettable laugh! Clio enjoys arts and crafts projects including coloring, painting, cutting out pictures and gluing them. She is motivated in becoming a good reader and determined to assert her independent mind. She wants to do things on her own but readily accepts help if offered. Clio also enjoys swimming and horseback riding. She likes to engage with others in a board game. She is very feminine and loves her dolls.

Clio's overall cognitive and emotional functioning is behind her chronological age however she has been making significant gains developmentally! She experiences some cognitive and physical limitations and receives a variety of services at home, during school, and while in the community. She needs assistance mostly to help her in making safe decisions. She will require caregivers willing to meet her unique challenges and who are able to help foster her full potential unconditionally. She will do best with parents who can patiently help her with identifying safe versus unsafe conditions, situations, and relationships.

Oryon and Clio would do best in a two parent household with realistic expectations, knowing it will take time for both Oryon and Clio to accept that their growing up parents will be there permanently. Caregivers' approach with parenting these children should involve a level of understanding on how trauma and past experiences can affect children. They will need to continue in therapy; they will benefit from an intensive approach in meeting their independent academic needs; they do well participating in structured community activities & camps; and most importantly they respond to caregivers that approach them in a nurturing, loving, and non-judgmental way, while providing them age appropriate expectations.

Oryon is described as active, a risk taker, and sometimes not realizing unsafe conditions. Given his age he will thrive in situations that allow him to be a leader while equally learning how to involve himself in appropriate group activities.

Clio's participation in extra-curricular activities are essential to her development and emotional growth. She thrives in both independent and group activities and often does well. Clio is prescribed glasses and uses hearing aids.

Oryon and Clio receive support in school to help them with academics and behavior. The children are described as good students. Both children love school. Oryon does well in math. Clio has grown leaps and bounds in grammar and handwriting. They will need parents who will continue to support their educational success and have knowledge of the systems of support that are available to them.

Oryon and Clio have siblings who they do not live with, but who they would like to stay in contact with. These relationships are important to them, so they need parents who will make sure these relationships are maintained in healthy and appropriate ways. Their current caregivers are also dear to them, so it will be imperative that adoptive parents be able to foster their connection as they transition into a forever home. Oryon and Clio are legally free to be adopted.

Oryon's and Clio's ongoing regime includes a daily plan that provides structure, opportunities to learn, and community activities. Both children enjoy peer relationships, participation in group and family activities, and being part of a family that they want to call their own. The ideal family will possess the following: patience; a deep understanding of how trauma and neglect take an emotional toll; and a desire to provide healthy structure and guidance.

The children express a desire to participate in church activities that includes worship. Openly the children do not demonstrate a particular need for a cultural and race specific family. However, Oryon and Clio will do well in an environment that is tolerant and understanding of those with physical or cognitive limitations.

Both children want a family to call their own; a family that shares the same surname; and a family that is completely and assuredly gentle and safe. They want a family that does "fun things," that have a pet(s), and attend church. They would do best as the youngest children in the home and would do well with older aged children.
